The Faroe Islands - part one

I arrived in the capital of the Faroe Islands, Tórshavn, a week ago. It’s my second visit here and the landscapes are exactly as incredible as I remember them.

Water that can be as dark as a ravens feather one moment and a piercing azure blue the next, the Faroe Islands centres life around the sea. Cliffs rise sharply, dramatically towering over the water that brings life to these shores. Desolate and sparse, the terrain itself holds the signs of water with snow and waterfalls cascading at every turn, and those that walk it daily wander in search of any sign of food to be had in this barren landscape.

I didn’t need to concern myself too much with that problem as I have everything I need with me in Kofifernweh.

The 18 islands hold surprises around every corner, not least of which is the weather. The rain, snow and wind have been hammering the mountains and valleys throughout my stay.

This week for Due North, the Faroe Islands are the centre of focus. Take a look and see what you think of this mid-Atlantic archipelago.
