Haífoss
Haífoss is the second tallest waterfall in Iceland, not far from the Golden Circle towards the highlands.
Facts
Distance - 500m
Difficulty - easy
Time - sunset
Season - summer
Elevation - minimal when walking
Access
Haífoss is accessed by a short walk from a parking location on the road 332. The road itself is in bad condition, with lots of large potholes and slopes. A 4x4 would be preferred. From the parking Haífoss and to it’s right, Grannifoss. It’s possible to hike 2km down steep slopes to the base of Haífoss.
Photo Location
This image is taken from the cliff opposite Haífoss where there is a marked trail.

Detail
In summer take care to stick to the marked trail and avoid standing on any moss or flowers, and take care of the steep drop. The trail itself is easy, with gravel in places and earth/rocks in others. In winter this location is harder to access as the road can become impassable, and the trails can become dangerous.
What To Bring
The weather in Iceland is unpredictable. It’s often said that if you don’t like the weather, just wait five minutes. Packing waterproof gear and wearing appropriate shoes are both important.
Gear
I used a Nikon Z 6 and Tamron 24-70mm f/2.8 lens on a 3 Legged Thing Bucky tripod.
Settings
24mm, ISO 100, f/16, 1/30 - five vertical panoramas stitched in Adobe Lightroom.
The information in this post is geared around how I got the featured shot, and as such the information may or may not be true to other seasons.
